What does the E in E. Wedel stand for?
Emil Wedel, the founder’s son, who took the business over and put his own handwritten signature on the packaging as a mark of authenticity against imitators. What is Ptasie Mleczko?
Literally “bird’s milk” — a soft marshmallow-style foam enrobed in chocolate, created by Jan Wedel in the 1930s and now a national institution in Poland. It is the single most famous thing the company has ever made, and the name has become a generic term for the whole category of Polish foam sweets.
