Caffarel is a prestigious Italian chocolate brand with a rich heritage dating back to 1826 in Turin, Piedmont. Founder Pierre Paul Caffarel established one of the first industrial-scale chocolate factories in Italy, pioneering the use of innovative machinery to process cocoa. The company's most celebrated achievement is the invention of the iconic Gianduiotto in 1865. Born from the clever necessity of blending precious cocoa with the region's abundant, superior-quality Piedmontese hazelnuts (Nocciola Piemonte IGP) during a period of cocoa shortage, the Gianduiotto is a velvety-smooth, boat-shaped praline. It was the first individually wrapped chocolate and became a global symbol of fine Italian chocolate. Today, Caffarel continues to honor its artisanal tradition, expertly blending high-quality cocoa and at least 30% hazelnuts to deliver the authentic, exquisite taste of Gianduia chocolate.
