Frequently Asked Questions
Why do Germans give chocolate Santas on December 6?
December 6 is St. Nicholas Day in Germany. Children leave their boots out the night before, and St. Nicholas fills them with small gifts, most often a chocolate Santa, nuts and cookies.
What is the difference between a hollow and a solid chocolate Santa?
A hollow Santa is a thin chocolate shell in a larger shape, light and easy to break into pieces. A solid Santa is smaller and made of chocolate all the way through. Both are wrapped in decorative foil.
How should I store chocolate Santas?
Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, ideally between 60 and 68 °F. Avoid the refrigerator, which can cause a white bloom on the surface.
Are chocolate Santas a good stocking stuffer?
Yes. Mini chocolate Santas and multi-packs fit easily into stockings, and a larger hollow Santa makes a festive centerpiece for a gift basket.
