I could not find thinly, sliced firm pumpernickel bread, it in any of the gourmet food shops where I live on Long Island.’s Hamptons. I almost gave up until I came across one stop German shop and found the perfect bread for this appetizer. The bread arrived within two days – – quicker than promised. The bread was perfect—-dense with seeds and thinly sliced. The appetizers were the highlighthit of our Thanksgiving cocktail hour. My only complain is the cost of shipping which actually cost more than the three packages of bread that I purchased. Highly recommended nonetheless!
